    Weather affecting travel in Sydney

Heavy rain and gale force winds have caused havoc on New South Wales roads overnight with a number of main roads and rail lines currently closed due to flooding and debris, reports The Daily Telegraph. Authorities are warning people travelling in Sydney, the Central Coast and Hunter regions to exercise caution while on the roads today and to look out for fallen power lines and tree branches. Transport NSW is also advising people against all non-essential travel across the road and transport network throughout Sydney, Newcastle, the Central Coast, and Illawarra, due to the adverse weather conditions. The poor weather caused delays at Sydney Airport last night and passengers due to fly today are advised to check the status of their flight before heading to the airport. They should also allow extra travel time to arrive at the airport safely. Conditions are not expected to ease until tomorrow.
